Rashmi Panigrahi earned her PhD from the University of Western Australia, where she trained under Prof. Alice Vrielink. She then joined the University of Alberta as a postdoctoral fellow, first with Prof. Joanne Lemieux and later in the laboratory of Prof. Mark Glover. In 2025, she established her independent research group in the Department of Human Biosciences at Memorial University.

She is passionate about uncovering the structures and dynamics of macromolecular complexes, which are integral to their function. She is dedicated to mentoring students and helping them grow into future leaders in science.​​
